(Fade in.)
"So much for ribbing..."
(R.W. Randolph's appearance in the Road 2 Glory qualifier raised many questions. R.W. himself knew that. He broke down and held a press conference in the banquet hall of the Casper Events Center after Solitary went off the air to try and answer some of them. As he stood in front of the members of the media, he clears his throat. He's still in most of his "Casper Laramie" attire, excepting the hat. The Bandana is around his neck. He speaks to the crowd, calmly as usual.)
Randolph: As you are probably well aware by now, I have officially entered myself into the 2011 Road 2 Glory Tournament. I have several reasons for why I did this, which I will discuss in the course of this conference.
I will start off and apologize to Nathan Lucas. It wasn't anything personal against you. I just needed to get everything out of the way and your match provided the best opportunity to do so. What I will do, however, is see to it that some sort of "Last Chance Battle Royal" is implemented for a future Solitary, with the entrants being all of those not pinned in their respective matches. The Winner of that will fill the spot that was opened up by the No Contest between Josten, Taylor, and Shaw. That, of course, is pending approval by Mr. Connolly.
I feel, however, that I was able to teach you a very important lesson this evening. In this business, strategy can be more important than anything else. Even god given talent. You are a great athlete, son. You have great submission skills. What you forgot to take into account, was that there was another man in that match. I wouldn't take that too hard, though. Many wrestlers make that mistake when they're in 3 way matches. Tunnel vision is your enemy, son. If you don't keep your eye on everyone in the contest, one of them could just catch you from behind at best or, at worst, let you do all the dirty work while they reap the reward. That's what I did tonight, Lucas. And if I had a dollar for every time I was able to do that, I could afford a fourth house, let alone a third and a second.
Second of all, I did announce that, to prevent a conflict of interest, I am currently stepping down as Head of Talent Relations until further notice. I was on the phone with Mr. Connolly and I explained that I didn't want it to seem like I was trying to stack the deck in my favor. As such, a suitable replacement has been found and will serve in my absence. He will be introduced at the next Solitary. Let's just say you are very familiar with him, and he is equally capable of keeping everyone here in line.
Again, like I mentioned before, I had several reasons for entering this tournament. Not the least of which being that I was going to enter this year's Lord of the Ring for XWF, but since that place decided to take a shit, I couldn't do that. I wanted to win a major tournament as it was just about the only thing I have NOT done in my career. Also, I know who some of the mystery opponents are, and I am wouldn't mind meeting some of them in the ring. I won't mention them by name, but let's just say one of them is back from his vacation watching his Kittens lose like they always do. The other reason is the Known Unknown. I didn't know exactly who he was, but I saw a picture of his masked face. I came to the conclusion that he's either so ugly his mask is an improvement, also known as Famine of the Vile, or he is one of the 4 or 5 people that would make me get back into the ring.
I can now take whatever questions you may have...[/red]
(His eyes scan the room. He can't help but notice Roshan Nocturne in the back corner, arms crossed over her chest, and foot propped against the wall. But she's not part of the horde firing flashbulbs, raising their hand, or firing questions rapid fire. R.W. casually gestures to a gentleman in the front row.)
Reporter 1: Thor butnotcomplaining, Evening News. Do you have any inside details on the identity of this "Known Unknown?"
Randolph: Details as to precisely who he is has been kept closely guarded, even from the PWE Staff. My gut tells me he's either a former member of the Broken Saints or he's one of the people the Saints ran off.
(more questions are fired. The Broken Saint looks to them. He points to someone across the room.)
Reporter 2: Oswald Thatendswald, Wrestlewatch Magazine. Who are those 4 or 5 people you refer to?
Randolph: 2 of them are former Saints. You know who they are when you see them. A third is the brother of one the original 2. The fourth is a man who had a Universal Title shot in a match with the two other Saints. Before he got there, he had to face me. I downgraded him from possible favorite to non-factor in one fell swoop. And took something he held dear to boot. I would imagine somewhere down the line he'd want a taste of revenge. The only other one I can imagine didn't suffer at my hands directly. He did, however, get ousted by my associates at the time. If he still held a grudge, I can see him coming after me, as they are gone. Next question.
(More flashbulbs, more questions being fired out of turn. R.W. looks about and finally picks one person from the middle section.)
Reporter 3: Lars OftheMohicans, How did your wife react to this decision?
(This question caused R.W. to pause. He shooks his head in sadness before continuing.)
Randolph: She wasn't happy with it, obviously. I think it's one of those situations where she knows and I know that it's kind of out of my hands. There's going to be folks trying to sneak in, get to a position where they're under my skin and try to drag me down. I'm just nipping this one in the bud now. If it turns out that I'm mistaken, I'll just go about my business and leave this whole thing alone. Apologize for wasting the Vato's time. I don't think I'm wrong, though. I have a bad feeling of what's to come. And it's gonna end with him getting knocked out... or Clocked Out.
(R.W. looks to the corner his pupil was located, yet she's gone. He nods to himself and then leaves the room. As he makes the slow walk to his dressing room, he can feel someone following him. He continues on his path, acting oblivious. He gets to his dressing room and opens the door. He walks in, leaving the light off. The door closes, and the sound of a body hitting a concrete wall is heard...
Fade Out.)
